United Learning is a group of schools - primary and secondary, academies and independents – committed to providing excellent education to children and young people across the country. Our mission is to bring out 'the best in everyone' – pupils, staff, parents, and the wider community – by preparing them for success in learning and life.
The United Curriculum was developed as part of this commitment to excellent education. Over several years, subject specialists and experienced teachers worked to identify the key concepts and essential knowledge that every student should have, no matter which school they attend or who their teacher is. Over time, this curriculum evolved to include robust assessments sat by every secondary student, alongside a comprehensive package of primary and secondary resources that our schools choose to use - not because they have to, but because it genuinely supports great teaching and learning.
We’re now making the United Curriculum available to schools beyond our group because we believe every pupil deserves access to this high-quality education. We believe every teacher should be empowered with subject knowledge and quality materials for them to adapt - reducing the need for creating resources from scratch or trawling the internet for something suitable. We believe every secondary teacher and school leader should have the same access to powerful and timely assessment, which gives curriculum-specific information about their students’ progress and how this compares to thousands of others.
The United Curriculum is designed to be both high-quality and affordable, so schools can benefit from it in a sustainable way. All the income goes towards covering the cost of maintaining and sharing the United Curriculum; anything leftover will be reinvested to help us continuously improve the curriculum and assessments and enable even better outcomes.
